Look after your boiler this Easter holiday

04 April 2023

Have you heard of the saying a ‘spring’ clean? Most people do a spring clean of their homes when the days start to get lighter and warmer, so why not do the same with your boiler and heating system? During spring we rely on our boilers less.

Look and listen

First things first, check over your boiler, give it a quick dust and check for any leaks. Key areas to check are around seals to make sure everything is connected tightly. Are there any strange noises, gurgling and bubbling sounds coming from your boiler? If so, we recommend calling a gas-safe engineer to come and look at your heating system.

All our engineers are gas safe registered, you can make an appointment on your online account if you are an existing Swale Heating customer or contact us on our contact us page.

Boiler service

Spring is the optimal time to get your boiler serviced. You are less reliant on your boiler so you won’t mind turning it off for a few hours for your service.

We offer a range of boiler service and cover plans starting from as little as £7.17, you can view our boiler and service cover plans here.

Boiler services prevent issues such as leaking radiator valves and avoid small issues turning into costly repairs in the winter.

During a Swale Heating boiler service, we check all the following:

  • Boiler inspection
  • Expansion vessel air pressure check
  • Radiator checks
  • Pressure checks
  • Cleaning of components
  • Final safety checks

This ensures your central heating system is working to its full potential and is ready for when you need it in the winter months.

Don’t forget the radiators

The boiler is not the only important component of your heating system that needs a spring clean. Dust and wipe them over to ensure they look nice and clean. Cleaning the inside of a radiator involves the radiator being bled. Bleeding your radiators is the process of removing any trapped air that is preventing them from working to their full potential.

Bleeding your radiators is a simple task. If you need some help we have a handy blog with a step-by-step on ‘how to bleed a radiator’.

Powerflush

If you notice after bleeding your radiators that they are still not working efficiently, you may require a Powerflush. A key sign you need a Powerflush is cold spots on your radiators even after bleeding and your boiler making strange noises.

A Powerflush is exactly what it says on the tin, it’s flushing of your central heating system to remove a build-up of dirt and sludge.

If you have been experiencing issues with your radiators and feel your system may benefit from a Powerflush or a general central heating system clean would be beneficial, please use our contact us page to make an appointment.

Consider a boiler upgrade

If you have had issues with your boiler over the colder months, then we couldn’t think of a better time to get a new boiler. Spring and summer are both great times to book a new boiler installation as you will be able to cope better without the heating while it is being fitted.

We are available over the Easter holidays to provide a no-obligation quote for your boiler replacement, you can do this online on our buy a new boiler page, which allows you to get an online estimate, book a visit from a representative and much more.
