Swale Heating help support children’s charity Demelza secure vital funding from SEC Foundation.

At Swale Heating we love being able to combine our efforts with the local community into our daily work. So, when we were made aware of the South East Consortium’s Foundation funding for local communities, naturally there was only one charity in mind to nominate – Demelza..
For many years Swale Heating has worked with SEC and supported Demelza and the specialist care they deliver to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting conditions, together with their families throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex.
In 2020 the South East Consortium launched the Foundation Fund as part of their commitment to the communities they serve within the housing sector. Over a three-year period they have committed £150,000 for projects and initiatives which make a real difference to the lives of people living in the local community.
As Demelza embarks on an exciting project intrinsic to their five-year strategy, they needed extra funding to help increase the internal specification of a building, to ensure the quality and specialist elements meet the needs of those children using it.
The space will be as versatile as possible to meet the needs of Demelza now and in the future. The aim is to make the space suitable for nurses’ accommodation for a new initiative Demelza are running, as well as additional family accommodation, therapy space and family events.
Demelza currently supports over 650 children and families in the South East. Many of them need care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week and providing this care can put families under huge emotional, practical, and financial pressure.
This funding from the SEC Foundation will give Demelza the ability to deliver a specialist environment, in addition to the Kenthospice, which in turn will enable Demelza to reach more families to offer breaks, respite, therapy, and family events.
Swale Heating are proud supporters of the SEC and Demelza and are excited to see the results of this funding.
